Anyone else think Wireless Networking kind of sucks?

It seems almost daily or weekly that the laptop on my wireless network has some problems getting access to it. Sure, we can go out in the garage and tap in to any of the three, sometimes up to 7, of our neighbors un-secured networks but what's the point? I specifically setup my network for 128 bit encryption and that seems to be the on-going issue.

I've setup and re-setup this damn laptop atleast 20 times and sometimes it fixes itself. I'm not sure if it's my router since the ethernet on it has been solid for 2 years or if it's just the fact Windows sucks. I'm going to say it's more of a combination of Windows and Charter Broadband sucks. Either way, staying connected without a wire has never been such a burden. I'm half tempted to drill holes like I'm trying to find oil, you know, the black gold, up through the basement floor in to the room in which the laptop resides. Afterall, ethernet has proven to be fairly idiot proof and quite secure.

All I'm saying is before you rush in to wirelesss networking or laptops on your network do some research because anything that can go wrong will (we like to call this Murphy's Law, but it's so common it's like he's my Uncle). Uncle Murphy visits almost daily it seems. Well, it does seem like it magically came back online once it was literally 5 feet away or less from the router (not sure if the 200-400 foot radius seems to be accurate). Lets see how many hours this lasts before “It's broken again” pops up.

The odd thing though really is when it finds my network fine, says the signal strength is excellent yet it refuses to do jack crap. Ah, gotta love it .. gotta hate it.. gotta hate to love the wireless world. With that being said, lets go back out to the garage and see what our lovely neighbors are doing.
