... oh no! you found me.

An old friend says hello, and then you find out they are a millionaire

I just got a Yahoo message from an old buddy who I haven't talked to in a long time. We used to be competitors, but also friends, in an industry around 2 1/2 years ago up until roughly 1 year ago, maybe 1 year 2-3 months tops. I really didn't know what to think when I saw his message because I've not seen him in so long, but turns out he's been quite the busy guy. How busy? Apparently if getting your Masters wasn't hectic enough, or raising your new child, how about being the top guy out of 800,000+ people in the biggest open poker tournament ever? Yeah, I can see why he's not been around.

I really was shocked to see him but more shocked when he told me he won a million dollars not too long ago and to google for him. Sure enough, insane amount of articles but this one sums it up the best: http://www.pokerstarsblog.com/2007/01/quillan-nagel-wins-1-million-in.html

I really couldn't be happier for him. He deserves it, though I think he could buy me a present. Just joking q. I guess good things can happen to good people. But isn't that just bizarre. I expected to hear he'd been busy with school but not he's been busying trying to figure out how to hide that kind of cash while he gets the heck out dodge. Assuming you're ever browsing the internet mate, this is for you: I think you owe me $20, and with interest that is equal to about $500,000 but I'll settle for a new car. Just joking.

I can say one thing though: money doesn't change everyone. I wouldn't of expected a arrogant attitude from him and I sure didn't get it. Just the same guy as before. I don't even know why I wrote this, perhaps because I don't know many millionares and I'm still a bit off from hitting that myself, though it's a goal, and one that's reaching possability more and more each month. Well big shot, next time you're in St. Louis I'll take you down to the Casino and see if we can't both walk out rich(er), until then though, you're buying the beer.

So congratulations my old friend, and I wish you, your wife, and your new baby the best and I'm glad to see you've accomplished a lot of what you set out to do before we last spoke. I'll look forward to the next time we speak, and I hope it's sooner than 1-2 years, but none the less, perhaps you'll find my blog some day and check in from time to time.
