You see them everywhere, along side of tons of people preaching about one or the other but none of it makes much sense in practicality ecspecially if everyone decided we're in web 2.0 now -- which I also don't agree with but maybe that's another blog post entirely. For now, I want to focus on my latest issues with Javascript/AJAX and the theories of progressive enhancement and graceful degredation. We'll start with PE.
Progressive Enhancement is the f... (post trimmed)

Woohoo I got PR 1 on the blog [cool]. That's really all I'm going to post right now.
So if you're wondering, yes they did update it. I think 2 days ago on the 27th. Perhaps it was the 28th though.
Link to me so I can get PR 2 thanksss! [tongue] [smile]

I'll admit, the last time I seriously coded JavaScript (like, a LOT of it, and complex code) was atleast 7 years ago, if not more like 9-10. That's not to say I've not wrote Javascript since then, but the last time I used it often was on the last community site I wrote, which ended in 2002. For the majority, I've only used bits of it for simple error checking or related things.
I've been working on a video streaming website, if you will. Anyways, I expect a gr... (post trimmed)

Sometimes people say they are flattered when people copy them; I'm not one of those people. Infact, I often get pretty annoyed, ecspecially when it comes to my websites where you may or may not be effecting my money.
Let me just say this: You cannot steal your way to the top of the SERPS. Yes, I'm talking to you, and you know who you are because you're the only one who has spent so long trying to topple me. But, I'm better than you at this game and I ... (post trimmed)

Alright, let me explain the topic. When you move past the development stage and in to marketing your website then you're probably going to be spending lots of time in Google Webmaster Tools, querying all 3 engines [Google,Yahoo,MSN], and I'd encourage one to also browse around a bit one one of the better webmaster forums [ie, webmasterworld or a good SEO blog], but anyways I'm finding more and more the SERPS being cluttered with garbage, and I have no way of turning it off. I... (post trimmed)

Literally, that's the domain. Nifty huh. The [link=http://www.afreewebdirectory.com]free web directory[/link] is only a few days old and pretty empty. I have high hopes though. I'm attempting something a bit different than most, and if it fails then I guess that's life eh.
You know, you can help the [link=http://www.afreewebdirectory.com]web directory[/link] out by [link=http://www.afreewebdirectory.com/free-site-submission.html]submitting your website for free[/link].

It's all too often code, both server, client, and markup related gets oudated. Ecspecially when said code may be 10 years old!
So Monday I started re-developing another website of mine called [link=http://www.darktides.net]Darktides[/link] that provides [link=http://www.darktides.net]webhosting and domain registrations[/link]. This is my 6th version of the website since 2000, 4th corporate version. I'm essentially starting from scratch. New CSS, new markup, new PHP, etc.

Alright, so here's the story. The last year or so I've been taking it very easy, spending most of my time with my girl. I've been working maybe 3-5 hours a week at best, but took October till March off (nice, I know).
None the less, I have been wanting to buy a new house with my girl, which obviously costs money. So I've been quite motivated to work on some new projects and stuff. After all, pretty much since 1998 I've only been involved in 3 different projects, and ... (post trimmed)

I swear all domain registrars now days are crooked. What's worse are the idiots who run the ICANN and their "5 day refund" policy. It just screams "abuse this feature". I understand some people want to actually park ads on a domain name and nothing more, and that's fine, but do you ever notice that domains which were at one time established are in a constant ad serving setup? I mean, these things "expired" sometimes YEARS ago, yet they're so locked w... (post trimmed)
